Volunteer Program At Texas Health Presbyterian Rockwall

Volunteer Program Overview
Volunteers at Texas Health Rockwall are dedicated men and women—teens through seniors—from all kinds of backgrounds who share a common desire to help others. Volunteers typically sign up for one three-hour shift each week and agree to an initial six-month commitment.
Rockwall County Hospital Auxiliary, Inc.

We are excited to announce the formation of the Rockwall County Hospital Auxiliary, Inc. Auxiliary volunteers will help others and meet new friends, learn new skills, gain new insights and achieve a sense of accomplishment.

As a nonprofit organization, we strive to promote the health and welfare of the Rockwall community in accordance with the mission, vision and values of a nonprofit hospital auxiliary. Our auxiliary donates time and money to several charitable organizations in the area, offers scholarships to Rockwall County high school seniors and provides support services within our local hospital.

In order to accomplish our charitable goals, we hold periodic fundraisers and require nominal annual dues from each auxiliary member. Dues are payable upon entering the volunteer program.

All prospective volunteers must complete an application, sign a statement of confidentiality and a release to run a criminal background check. No one with a misdemeanor conviction (other than for a minor traffic violation) or a felony conviction can be accepted as a volunteer. Volunteers are also required to provide two references from outside of their families. Applicants will be contacted by the Volunteer Office to schedule an in-office interview.
Orientation and Training

All volunteers must attend volunteer orientation and have an employee health assessment completed prior to beginning volunteer placement. Training is provided for each placement area. Volunteer orientation is held once a month on the first Monday of the month, unless it falls on a holiday in which case it will be held on Tuesday.
Student Volunteer Program

Our Student Volunteer Program launches in summer 2011, and will be active only during the summer. Applicants must be 16 years of age by June 1 of the program year. Applications may be picked at the lobby desk and will be accepted during the Spring with interviews to follow in May. Accepted students will be notified by phone shortly thereafter. We will not be able to accept applications outside of the designated application window.

Orientation is required and additional training opportunities are provided throughout the summer. Student volunteers must agree to work for the duration of the program.
